Use teams for PSTN telephony — linked to your existing telephone system or as a standalone solution. Classic desk phones can still be used or replaced with less expensive headsets.

Mobile fixed network telephony

Make calls from anywhere via the fixed network — Teams makes it possible. No matter where your users are, they can always be reached via their business telephone number. This also means that there is no need to use private or mobile numbers to call people working from home.

Bringing communication channels together

The Teams client, available for all common operating systems, combines various communication channels in one application: chats, meetings and finally regular telephony. The combination of teams and phone also ensures that the availability status is displayed correctly across all services.

Coexistence instead of abolition

Already made investments are not displaced by teams. Instead, Teams can be integrated with the existing telephone system to get the best of both worlds. Policy-based routing controls the flow of data between on-premises infrastructure and teams in the cloud.

Automatic call handling

Teams offers a whole range of functions that can be implemented without usually much effort. Your users benefit from features such as queues, automated telephone exchanges or answering machines. In addition, complex routing scenarios can be easily mapped using rule sets.

The use of teams for fixed network telephony brings a proven means of communication up to date.

Users benefit from a mobile solution that allows them to communicate inbound and outbound from any device using their usual telephone number, regardless of location. This is particularly used on business trips or working from home.

Administrators are offered various ways to implement fixed network telephony via teams. Depending on the required level of functionality and the existing infrastructure, a suitable deployment model is selected and implemented.

  • Calling plans: A phone number is requested from Microsoft or transferred to it. No local infrastructure is required.
  • Operator Connect: Well-known third-party providers provide their services directly, including connections to teams. No local infrastructure is required here either.
  • Direct Routing (local session border controller): An SBC is operated in our own data center and connected to teams. The existing telephone system and its range of functions will continue to be used.

All settings for the optimum telephony experience are specified, managed and adjusted centrally in the Teams Admin Centre. This is where telephone numbers are managed, queues created and voice assistants configured.
