Starting mid-October to mid-December 2026, new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web will roll out an automatic spell check before sending emails. Users can enable this feature if Connected Experiences are on. Organizations should review privacy policies and update training accordingly.

Updated October 6, 2026: We have updated the content. Thank you for your patience.

[What and Why:]

If you don’t want to check spelling manually for every message—or you’re worried you might forget!—you can set Outlook to check spelling for you every time before sending emails.

[Rollout Schedule:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out on mid-November 2026 and expect to complete by early December 2026.

Targeted Release (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out on mid-October 2026 and expect to complete by late October 2026.

General Availability (GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out on mid-November 2026 and expect to complete by mid-December 2026.

[Impact on Your Organization:]

Who is affected:

  • Users of new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web.
  • Help desk and training teams that support Outlook messaging experiences.

Platforms/Services:

  • Exchange Online.
  • New Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web.

What will happen:

  • Users can configure Outlook to check spelling automatically before sending email.
  • This can help reduce spelling mistakes in sent messages without requiring users to manually start spell check for each message.
  • The capability will roll out automatically during the scheduled rollout window.
  • This feature requires Connected Experiences to be enabled. Users who have Connected Experiences disabled will not be able to use automatic spell checking before sending email.

[Action Required/Recommendations:]

  • Confirm that your organization’s privacy policies allow the use of connected experiences in Office.
  • Inform users that they can enable spell check before sending if they want Outlook to review spelling automatically.

[Compliance considerations:]

This feature requires Connected Experiences in Office. Review as appropriate for your organization.
